Scouts U13’s 21 v Shelford U13’s 12
This was the under 13’s first 15 a side game of the season against an unknown opposition.
Shelford arrived with 14 players & in true rugby spirit, Scouts loaned them a player to even the sides.
The first ten minutes were even with both sides testing each other, seeing what they could get away with; numerous times Scouts could have scored if they had only put out just one more pass, however after pushing to get to the Shelford line, Tom Wade picked up & went over under the posts, Dan Juzyk converting.
Shelford were winning a lot of the scrums, however Scouts were trying to make the most of the running game, & were rewarded with a darting try from fly half Peter Dennis, converted again by Dan.
Second half & Shelford were back to full strength, so Scouts made some changes, however Shelford took advantage of some poor tackling to score an unconverted try.
An unlucky Shelford clearance kick into the wind was pounced upon by Scrum half Connor Taylor, who caught & carried over for Scouts third try, converted again by player of the week, Dan.
Shelford came back harder, Scouts relaxed & were punished with a late try & conversion.
All in all a good start to the 15 man game for Old Scouts U13’s
