On a windy Sunday at Kettering Rugby Club, Old Scouts played Towcester in the East Midlands U16’s final . The teams had played each other twice this season with Old Scouts winning both games by 7 points so we all knew it would be a close game. The 1st half ended scoreless with the Old Scouts coming close in the early stages with Man of the Match Treymane Noel almost touching down on two occasions, maybe Scouts should have opted for kicks instead of running penalties. Towcester also came close but full back Glyn Roff put in some great tackles when called upon. Old Scouts managed to get the important breakthrough early in the second half when the Scouts forwards managed to get a quick turnover and fed winger Jordan Freeman who ran from his own half and was tackled on the Towcester 22 but as he went to ground he off loaded to open side Ali Gore who was in support and he ran in the try. The try was converted by Ali Morin.
The rest of the game was very tight with both teams tackling ferociously , Towcester dominated the scrums but were unable to turn possession into territory .All the crowd enjoy a hard fought match and the referee said Scouts had won the game with their tackling. A special mention goes to Captain Andy Clarke who led from the front all game.
